Summer Fortune

This summer brought new supporters and increased support to /m. We are humbled and grateful for the following: A聽 Chesapeake Crossroads/Maryland Heritage Areas Authority grant for 鈥渢he Annapolis Liberty Tree Project鈥 (Spring/Summer 2026), an Arts Council of Anne Arundel County Strategic Impact Grant for VIDEODROME, a micro-cinema we will launch in October 2025, and an Anne Arundel Council Office of Multicultural Affairs Community Grant for 鈥淟uncheon on the Grass,鈥 picnic for local artists that we hosted in July. The museum鈥檚 longtime supporters Joy Chambers and Peter Bungay increased their support in June.

Marking a Milestone: /m Turns 50

The St. John鈥檚 College Art Gallery was born 50 years ago in a former science lab on the 2nd floor of Mellon Hall. Fourteen years later, we moved into our current facility. We are collecting memories: please send us a recollection of a favorite exhibition via email to mitchellartmuseum(at)sjc.edu.

A New Name, a New Identity

We entered 2023 with a new name: Elizabeth Myers Mitchell Art Museum. By replacing 鈥済allery鈥 with 鈥渕useum鈥 we celebrate of our longstanding accreditation (since 2012) by the American Alliance of Museums. Our new lettermark, /m, uses the language of subdomains to underscore the museum鈥檚 relationship to its host, St. John鈥檚 College.
