Strategic Planning Task Force

In 2024, St. John’s embarked on a strategic vision and planning process to realistically assess our strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities in a changing higher education environment and establish an implementation plan to get us into a long-term viable position where the college can truly flourish. This work began with an executive committee and steering committee comprising administrators, faculty, and staff from both campuses who worked together to generate ideas, recommendations, and suggestions for further areas of study. Some of these ideas are already moving forward through faculty-led efforts that will strengthen the Program for the 21st century while increasing our applicant pool and making it easier for prospective students to find St. John’s. Other ideas and strategies will take further time to study and develop, and the board will lead the next stage in our process.

In June 2025, a Strategic Planning Task Force was created to move this work into the next stage with a focus on providing data-driven recommendations that will enhance the financial stability of the college, while building on the core strength of our institution–the Program.

The task force, comprising a cross-section of board members, including undergraduate and graduate alumni across generations, parents, and friends of the college, will conduct an ongoing study and review of proposals, with periodic recommendations and updates at future Board meetings.

Thank you to the entire St. John’s College community that participated in the initial phases of the strategic planning process by providing input during listening sessions and through the submitted feedback. The task force has received a synthesis of the ideas that were received during this process and will use those in the planning moving forward.
